Dear BuildOps Community,

I am absolutely thrilled to announce the promotion of our Chief of Staff, John Laino, to the position of Chief Operating Officer at BuildOps.

When John joined us nearly two years ago, he didn’t just step into a role—he took flight. On his very first day, he was on a plane to a customer site, embodying the proactive spirit that defines our company. From that moment, I knew we had found someone extraordinary.

John brings over 25 years of technology and relationship management expertise to this pivotal role. Before joining BuildOps, he served as a Vice President at ServiceTitan, where he gained deep insights into the needs and challenges of contractors. His extensive background includes leadership roles at ZipRecruiter and Velocify, where he drove higher customer adoption, reduced churn, and enhanced team productivity. His experience with industry giants like Salesforce, NetApp, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and Accenture equips him with the insights needed to streamline operations and elevate our customer experience.

Throughout his time at BuildOps, John has been one of the most cross-functional leaders in our organization. He shows up every day with our “Get It Done” mindset, collaborating seamlessly across teams to drive outcomes that benefit both BuildOps and our customers. His selflessness isn’t just a trait; it’s his superpower. John is fully committed to the success of this company, our team, and our customers.

A few years ago, I spoke with Scott Nolan from Founders Fund about the enormous impact of transformative hires—the kind of people who don’t just fill a role but elevate the entire organization.

Seeing John in action, I now fully understand what he meant.

At BuildOps, our mission is to empower the unsung heroes who keep America’s hospitals, power plants, and commercial real estate running. We’re not just building technology; we’re setting new standards for the commercial contractor industry. John’s promotion is a testament to our commitment to “Collaborate to Win,” “Love our Customers,” and “Act Like an Owner.”

As COO, John will oversee key functions including People/HR, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Corporate Development. These are the levers that will propel BuildOps to the next level of scale and success. His leadership will be instrumental in driving operational efficiency, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value to our customers.

Please join me in celebrating John’s well-deserved promotion. I am confident that with his leadership, we’ll continue to build exceptional teams, empower our customers, and drive industry progress. On a personal note, I couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey with John by my side as we lead BuildOps into a promising future.

Here’s to the exciting road ahead and to the continued success of us all.
