Alok Chanani, Co-Founder and CEO of BuildOps, has been named to the 2026 LA500 by the Los Angeles Business Journal, a recognition honoring influential leaders shaping Los Angeles.
Alok’s path to this moment didn’t start in software. Before co-founding BuildOps in 2018, he served as a U.S. Army Captain in Iraq and later worked in Southern California commercial real estate, where he saw firsthand how the contractors behind hospitals, schools, office towers, and other critical infrastructure were still being asked to run complex businesses on outdated tools.
That perspective helped shape BuildOps into a platform built specifically for commercial contractors — one that now serves more than 1,500 businesses across North America by bringing service, projects, and financials into one system.
This news also comes on the heels of broader momentum for BuildOps and Alok. Earlier this year, Forbes named BuildOps one of America’s Best Startup Employers for 2026 — the fourth year in a row the company has made the list
These recognitions reflects more than individual leadership. It speaks to the impact BuildOps is making from Los Angeles outward — helping modernize the industries and teams that keep the built world running.
We’re proud to see Alok recognized among the leaders helping shape the future of business in Los Angeles.
